Motivational Interviewing (MI) Beyond Foundations: Responding to Risk Mini Course

  45-90 minutes self-paced online content, followed by a 30 min 1:1 practice and feedback session.

  Appropriate for a wide range of professionals and peers who have a foundational knowledge of MI.

The MI Beyond Foundations mini courses are designed for learners who want to deepen their MI knowledge, skills, strategies. Each mini course focuses on one concept and is designed with practical application in mind.

Supporting a person’s autonomy is an important part of MI. It can be difficult to determine what that looks like in situations where risk is involved. This mini course focuses on how to:

  • Identify risk
  • Distinguish between tolerable and intolerable risk
  • Examine your role in relation to risk
  • Respond to risk in MI-consistent ways.

Course content includes:

  • An interactive learning module with audio, reading, and practice activities.
  • A final assignment with feedback from an instructor.
  • A 30-min practice and feedback session with a CCMI practice facilitator.

This course can accommodate 24 learners per group.
