Rea Klar is a passionate student leader, environmental advocate, and aspiring surgeon from Williams Lake, British Columbia. She is currently completing her Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology at Trinity Western University, with specializations in molecular genetics and ecology and a minor in psychology. Growing up in a small northern town has shaped her deep commitment to health equity, rural advocacy, and environmental justice—values that continue to inspire her academic and professional journey.

Rea brings extensive leadership experience to the CCMI board. She is the founder and president of her university’s Pre-Med Society and formerly served as president of the Environmental Club, where she led impactful initiatives such as Sustainability Week and a public debate on climate policy. Rea has represented Canadian youth at the United Nations COP27 Climate Conference in Egypt and the World Peace Summit in Bangkok, engaging with global leaders on sustainability and humanitarian issues. She has also worked as a biology research assistant, volunteered with Canadian Blood Services and Langley Memorial Hospital, and founded The Vape Truth for Youth Project, a campaign focused on reducing youth vaping and cannabis use through education and advocacy.

With a firm belief in the power of science, community, and faith to drive meaningful change, Rea is dedicated to creating a more inclusive and compassionate healthcare system. As an aspiring surgeon, she is especially passionate about improving access to care in underserved and rural communities. She looks forward to contributing her lived experience, professional insight, and unwavering drive to the CCMI board’s mission of advancing health equity across Canada.
