Sulan is a caring patient advocate who believes patients and their families are partners in care, share decision-making and participate in collaborative health planning with their healthcare team.
Through both her work and life, she has seen how patient & health provider partnerships lead to patients feeling better supported and at times empowered. She embraces Motivational Interviewing (MI) because it brings the patient back to the focus, even in a stressed system. She also appreciates how MI practices help health care providers move away from being the only “expert,” giving them more ways to support patients.
She is honoured to serve on the CCMI Board, as it provides an opportunity to support an organization which shares her values.
